As part of the Skill Up! II Project, GeoKrishi, in collaboration with the Skill Up! II team, conducted two Lead Farmers Training events on the GeoKrishi Farm Application. The trainings were held on 30 March 2026 in Krishnapur Municipality, Kanchanpur, and on 28 May 2026 in Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet, bringing together 61 lead farmers and local resource persons from the project areas.

The primary objective of the training was to strengthen the digital literacy and technical capacity of lead farmers, enabling them to effectively utilize digital agricultural technologies for improved farm management and decision-making. The initiative sought to increase farmers' access to reliable agricultural advisory services, weather forecasts, market information, agricultural inputs, and expert support through the GeoKrishi Farm Application. The training also aimed to develop local champions who can promote digital agriculture within their communities and support wider adoption of the platform.

The training was delivered through a combination of live demonstrations, guided practical exercises, and interactive discussions. Participants installed and explored the GeoKrishi Farm Application while receiving hands-on guidance from the GeoKrishi technical team. The sessions focused on practical application of the platform's features, including weather forecasting, market price updates, crop and livestock advisory services, crop health diagnosis, expert consultation, and digital ordering of agricultural inputs. Dedicated WhatsApp groups were also established to provide continuous technical support, facilitate peer learning, and ensure sustained engagement after the training.

The training is expected to improve participants' confidence and capacity to use digital agricultural services in their daily farming activities. As lead farmers and local resource persons, the participants are expected to transfer the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to other farmers within their communities, thereby expanding the outreach of the GeoKrishi platform and promoting greater adoption of digital advisory services. Continuous engagement through WhatsApp groups will further support knowledge exchange, timely dissemination of seasonal advisories, and ongoing technical assistance.

By strengthening farmers' digital capabilities, the initiative is expected to contribute to more informed and timely farm management decisions, improved access to agricultural information and services, enhanced climate resilience, and increased agricultural productivity. Improved access to weather forecasts, market information, and expert recommendations will enable farmers to reduce production risks, improve planning, and respond effectively to emerging agricultural challenges.

The GeoKrishi Farm Application also creates opportunities for farmers to adopt a more market-oriented and entrepreneurial approach to agriculture. Improved access to market price information, quality agricultural inputs, technical advisory services, and digital networks enables farmers to make better production and marketing decisions, reduce transaction costs, identify market opportunities, and improve the profitability of their farming enterprises. By strengthening digital competencies and encouraging innovation, the training supports the development of resilient, commercially oriented, and sustainable agri-entrepreneurs, contributing to improved livelihoods in Sudurpaschim and Karnali Provinces.

A total of 61 beneficiaries , mostly lead farmers and local resource persons , participated in the two training sessions.
